The giant panda “Basi” of the Giant Panda Research and Communication Center Straits (Fuzhou), was born in 1980 in Baoxing County, Sichuan Province, China. The panda is female and now weights 100 kilograms. She was named as the mascot for the Asian Games just like “Panpan”. The giant panda “Basi” turns 37 years old in January 2017 and thus sets the World record for the oldest panda in captivity.
